A car carrying 17 stolen goats and sheep has been involved in an accident in front of Anyinam District Police station stretch of the Accra to Kumasi highway.
Occupants of the accident Toyota Corolla car with registration number GS9245-13, however sensing abandoned the car and fled.
Police rescued the animals except four(4) that were dead, for safe keeping in animals pen of a farmer in Anyinam.
DSP Raymond Mahama Iddrisu, Anyinam District Police Commander confirmed the incident to Bryt News that, “the car had accident in front of the police station.So the police personnel went to the seen but their surprise the supposed victims including their driver were no where to be found. When we searched the car we found 17 goats and sheep. The goats were actually 7 but 4 of the goats were dead”.
DSP Raymond Mahama Iddrisu urged residents whose goats and sheep have been stolen in recent times to come to the police station for identification.
Communities along the Accra -Kumasi highway such as Atwemamena,Akyem Asafo, Bunso,Osino, continue to suffer rustling menace for years.
In December last year, unknown rustlers conducted major operation stealing large number of goats in these communities.
