The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has failed to Close down Bula Spot and Little Ben Brothels in Koforidua, Eastern Regional Capital of Ghana in the latest clampdown on illegal hospitality facilities in the region.
The brothels located a few distances away from the Eastern Regional Office of GTA have been uncovered through investigation by Journalist Obed Kojo Ansah as serving as accommodation for trafficked girls from Nigeria.
The victims including minors are sexually exploited in these illegal hospitality facilities by the traffickers.
One would have expected that the Ghana Tourism Authority as part of its ten days reinforcement exercise which started Monday 27th June 2022 and already seen eleven(11) hospitality facilities such as hotels, hostels, restaurants and chop bars in the Eastern regional capital Koforidua closed down, will similarly close down the brothels.
According to the Eastern Regional Director of Ghana Tourism Authority, GTA, the infractions include facilities without the licence, facilities that have started registration but have not completed and those who have been licenced but have failed to renew their licenses.
However, conspicuously missing in the list of 25 facilities earmarked to be closed down are the Bula Spot and Little Ben Brothels in Koforidua.
