As part of the Ghana Secondary Cities Support Programme (GSCSP), the West Akim Municipal Assembly has budgeted to apply part of its Capacity Support Grant (CSG-4) to prepare a Disaster Risk Preparedness Management Plan and Conduct a Multi Hazard Risk Assessment for the Municipality.
In view of this, there has been a day’s training programme for heads of department and stakeholders on the Preparation, Guidelines, and Processes to prepare a Disaster Management Plan for the West Akim Municipality.
The training focused on
How to assess the Disaster Risks in the West Akim Municipality,
How to identify the elements of vulnerability to disasters in the Municipality and how
too identify actionable activities for disaster management in West Akim Municipal from 2022 to 2025.
The facilitators for the training were Dr. Audrey Smock Amoah, Regional Development Planning Officer, Eastern Region and Godfred Dato, Assistant Planning Officer, Eastern Region.
West Akim Municipal District is one of the thirty-three districts in Eastern Region, Ghana.
Originally created as an ordinary district assembly in 1988 when it was known as West Akim District, which was created from the former West Akim District Council.
