Tensions are escalating in Akyem Asene near Oda dozens of heavily armed police personnel were deployed in the town on Saturday.

The police personnel, sourced from Oda, Asamankese, and Kyebi, were strategically stationed at the Asene durbar ground, surrounding the palace, the residence of the new queen mother, and key streets in the town.
The reason behind the sudden police deployment is linked to chieftancy.

According to Nana Kodua Asiedu, the Abakomahene of Asene and Acting Adontenhene of the Akyem Kotoku Traditional Area, the destooled Asenehene, Nana Karikari Apau, is to blame for making false allegations that prompted the police deployment.
He revealed that the police had advised chiefs to postpone the out-dooring ceremony for the new queen mother, Nana Agyeiwaa Agyekumwaa, due to inadequate security personnel amidst tensions building up.
Nana Asiedu further explained that after consenting to the police directive and postponing the event, the chiefs were set to meet with the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Asene-Manso-Akroso, Mr. Alex Incoom, on January 10, 2024, to discuss a new date for the ceremony.
Despite the postponement and ongoing discussions, the unexpected and substantial police presence in the town has intensified anxieties among residents.
