The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary hopeful for New Juaben North, Samuel Adongo has empahsised that he will not wait for resources from the national headquarters of the party before going out to campaign ahead of the 2024 elections.
Speaking to the media in Koforidua, the businessman indicated that waiting for resources from the party’s hierarchy can jeopardise the campaign strategy as it may not come on time.
“I am not going to wait for resources from the national office before posters and T-shirts are done to accelerate our campaign. I am going to start all those things even before any support from the national headquarters. We have to start the campaign early and therefore cannot wait for others to do for us” the parliamentary hopeful stated.
Comrade Sammy Adongo as affectionately called was optimistic he remains the favourite candidates among other contenders due to his selfless service to the party within the constituency over the past years.
He made the comments after a short meeting with constituency leadership of the party to officially make known his intention to contest the seat when nomination is opened.
He assured delegates, party supporters and the people of the constituency that he will continue to be closer to constituents if elected into office and liaise on how to develop the constituency and the municipality at large.
Meanwhile, Comrade Adongo appealed to delegates to consider him by voting massively to endorse his candidature in order to lead the NDC in 2024 and subsequently snatch the seat from the ruling New Patriotic Party.
However, constituency executives advised parliamentary hopefuls to play be the rules laid down as they campaign to gain favour from delegates ahead of the party’s primaries.
