There is simmering tension at Akyem Osino, Juaso and Akyem Saamang in the Fanteakwa South District in the Eastern Region as residents clash with the BSD mining company over the destruction of their roads.
The residents on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, blocked the main road in the community that leads to Akyem Osino preventing trucks of the mining company from using the road.
The angry residents are accusing the mining company of destroying the road with their trucks making it unmotorable particularly whenever it rains.
The livid residents say dozens of earth-moving trucks and hundreds of double axle loaded trucks use the road deteriorating the poor condition to worse.
Kwame George leader of the angry residents said about 200 trucks of BSD mining have been plying this road every day from morning to evening transporting gold dust to Akyem Asiakwa where their main site is located to wash them for gold.
But have failed to rehabilitate the road for them affecting drivers of smaller vehicles on the road.
Police were yet to arrive at the scene to clear the road as about 15 trucks of the company were blocked.
However, management of the Company arrived in the community to assure that, they will bring machinery to grade the road and rehabilitate the most deplorable sections.
