Kwabeng Anglican Senior High Technical School (KASTS) launched its 40th-anniversary celebration, emphasizing the advancement of science and technical education.
The event’s theme, “40 years of quality science and technical education at KSTS, strengthening stakeholder roles,” sets the stage for a milestone celebration.
Reflecting on its journey since inception in 1983 as a private institution built by the Koforidua Diocese of the Anglican Church, Headmistress Mrs. Elfreda Cecilia Adu Poku stated that the school’s transitioned to a government-owned public secondary Technical school in 1994.
The school, dedicated to academic excellence and character development, started with 17 students and has since grown to over 1,500.
Despite notable growth, Mrs. Adu Poku raised concerns about the inadequate science facilities, urging government for the establishment of modern science laboratories to fortify science and technical education.
Currently, the school utilizes makeshift classrooms for science practicals .
The plea extends to the provision of an infirmary and an administration block.
Speaking on behalf of the Member of Parliament for Atewa West, District Chief Executive (DCE) Hon Seth Asante assured swift action to address the school’s needs, acknowledging government contributions in infrastructure, transportation, and equipment.
He also encouraged collaboration with NGOs and organizations to complement government efforts in implementing the Free Senior High School Policy.
