The Chief of Kwahu-Abetifi in the Eastern Region, Akyemfour Asiedu Agyemang III, who also doubles as Adontenhene of Kwahu Traditional Area has expressed gratitude to the Eastern Regional Security Council (REGSEC), led by Eastern Regional Minister Hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong, Dr. Bryan Acheampong and all other security heads for their swift response that led to his rescue when abducted by armed men.
The tensions escalated on the morning of November 7th, 2024, when a group of armed men dressed in national security uniforms stormed the Abetifi Palace.
The intruders abducted the chief, Akyemfour Asiedu Agyemang III, taking him to an unknown location.
During the ordeal, he was mistreated and stripped of his shirt.
Recounting the events during a press conference at the Abetifi Palace, the chief emphasized that the quick intervention of REGSEC, the Abetifi Police Command, and the Member of Parliament for Abetifi, Hon. Bryan Acheampong, led to his release and the restoration of calm in the community.
The Queen Mother of Abetifi who is also the Adontehemaa Nana Amma Amanua, addressed misinformation circulating on social media, categorically denying that the woman allegedly involved in the attack was she Queen Mother of Abetifi.
He clarified that the woman who called her the Great Yaa Asantewa and led the armed men is never a Queen Mother neither a Royal.
Meanwhile, Kwahuhemaa, Nana Adwoa Gyamfua III, insisted the lead suspect Great Yaa Asantewa be punished by law and should be bannished from the Kwahu land for the despicable conduct that has brought tainted the image of Kwahu
