Kwahu South Municipal Chief Executive Nominee Effa Osei Bonsu David has been overwhelmingly confirmed with 84% total valid votes cast by Assembly members on Monday May 5,2025.
He becomes the first of 33 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCE) nominees in Eastern Region to be confirmed.
Effa Osei Bonsu David polled 31 “Yes” votes as against 6 “No ” votes. The Election was supervised by the Electoral Commission.
In his victory speech, the MCE thanked all stakeholders for making the election peaceful and successful.
He said ” the election is over and the time to work is now ” emphasizing his commitment to ensuring all hands on desk approach to stimulate development.
Eastern Regional Minister Hon. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey who witnessed the election stated that the government’s Reset Agenda Begins with competent leadership at the Assemblies.
She therefore urged Assembly members to give President Mahama MMDCE nominees 100% Votes to drive development at local level
Meanwhile Krontihene of Kwahu Asakraka Samuel Addo Opoku, 62, was also elected earlier Presiding Member for Kwahu South.
The rest of the Nominees has been scheduled for confirmation this week.
