Police in Akyem Asuom in the Kwaebibirem District of the Eastern Region on Sunday, August 2, 2020, picked a man found rolling in pain at the roadside at Akyem Bomso suspected to have drunk poison.
The neatly dressed unknown stout man wearing black jeans trousers and smog was found rolling in the dust at the roadside at the outskirt of Akyem Bamso Community towards Sankubeanase Community.
According to the local Police, they also found a plastic bottle which contained a whitish liquid substance suspected to be poison behind him.
The incident attracted scores of residents to the scene but the residents told police, the victim was not known in the community.
He was rushed to Asuom Health Center around 10:00 am but died around 4:00 pm while on admission receiving treatment.
The body was subsequently conveyed to Kade Government Hospital for identification by family and autopsy while investigation continuous, according to the Acting Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command, Sargeant Francis Gomado.
