The Eastern Regional Police Command has restored calm at Kukurantumi following violent clashes between supporters of Port City FC and True Democracy FC during a Division One League match at the Kukurantumi Ohene Park.
The incident occurred on Saturday, January 4, 2026, shortly after the end of the first half, with home side Port City FC leading by one goal to nil.
According to police investigations, a fight broke out between supporters of the two clubs during the recess, escalating into stone-throwing from both sides.
The clashes resulted in injuries to some supporters and damage to the windscreen of the team bus belonging to True Democracy FC.
Police reinforcement from the Eastern Regional Operations Unit responded swiftly to a distress call, successfully dispersing the feuding supporters.
The police also rescued the away team and their supporters and escorted them safely out of Kukurantumi through Osiem on their way to Tema.
Meanwhile, the Kukurantumi Ohene Park has been declared a crime scene. The Police Command has consequently closed and preserved the stadium to allow for thorough investigations into the incident.

The Eastern Regional Police Command urged residents and football supporters to remain calm as investigations continue, assuring the public that all perpetrators involved in the violence will be brought to justice.
