Many school children are fear dead after a bus transporting 62 school children to an excursion in involved in fatal crash Friday morning on Adukrom-Asesesso-Somanya highway in Eastern Region.
The school children reportedly from Ben Konadu SDA Basic School in Asante Akyem in Ashanti Region were onboard a Bus with Registration number GV 83-22.
The victims have been transported to Yilo Krobo District Hospital and other nearby health facilities.
Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey who was enroute to attend a function at Mount Mary College of Education stopped her convoy at the accident scene to assist rescue.
The cause of the accident is unknown however observers believes the driver may be unfamiliar with the road hence lost control of the steering wheel while descending the hill at the sharp curve.
Many fatal crashes have occurred on that stretch of the road due to lack of warning signals to drivers unfamiliar with the sharp curve shortly after descending the hill.
Last year, a staff of Koforidua SECTECH died while many others injured after a Bus transporting them to funeral of a involved in accident on same spot.
Same year, two female teachers also died in crash on that stretch.
