Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has organized a Sensitisation program for 33 Municipal and District Assemblies in Eastern Region on the Social Accountability and the New Indicators for the District Performance Assessment Tools (DPAT).
Addressing the Participants, the Eastern Regional Minister Eric Kwakye Darfour on behalf of Minister for Local Government and Rural Development encouraged all MMDA’s to pay critical attention to the revised indicators and study the operational manual for the DPAT very well so that they could pass the minimum conditions of performance measures.
He also encouraged them to study the guidelines for the digitization of the responsive factor grant and also observe the environmental safeguard for the implementation of soft projects.
The Minister tasked the MMDA’s to facilitate the preparation of community development plan through consultation meetings with the various communities to ensure that projects been undertaken are based on the needs of the people rather than partisan political configuration.
In his welcome address, the Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Samuel Nuertey Ayertey, said the assessment and evaluation through the District Assemblies Performance Assessment Tool(DPAT) should be seen as an exercise conducted to know whether Assemblies are up to the fundamental functions which ensure efficiency and accountability in the delivery of basic community services.
The Deputy Minister called on the staff to desist from the growing trend of work to role attitude among a section of the staff and encouraged them to sacrifice a little more for the general benefits of our people.
