The Member of Parliament for New Juaben South Michael Okyere Baafi says more Police posts are being constructed in the Constituency to curb the increasing criminal activities.
Murder, robbery, theft, and burglary are the common security challenges facing the constituency and the same raised by residents during town hall meetings held in 34 Electoral Areas by the law Maker.
The MP said the town hall meetings allowed him to know pressing issues bedeviling his constituents for intervention.
According to him, more of such engagements will be done to create effective collaboration with his Constituents to facilitate the development and engender confidence in his transformation agenda
“I shall undertake another round of Town Hall meetings in due course. I have taken serious considerations to all the concerns raised by the constituents at the various Electoral Areas. Those that needed very urgent attention, we have attended to them while the others are currently being worked on.
Road constructions are ongoing, more security posts are being constructed, many street lights have been installed, and more will soon be provided to illuminate the entire constituency. We also ensure that police patrolling will be frequent in the constituency while water and sanitation issues are also being addressed”. The MP said.
He added that “The soft loan scheme, which I initiated and dubbed the “Baafi Trade Fund”, has started and, so far, over 100 traders have been given loans to enhance their businesses. Every week, more traders are given their loans until everyone has been sorted. The traders will pay only 1% interest on the loan given them so that more constituents can be covered. It is my prayer that soon, the era of “I don’t have a job” in the New Juaben South constituency will be a thing of the past.
During the tour, older men, women, and other vulnerable groups were identified and given assorted foodstuffs to manage at their homes. Periodically, this will be done. The Lord be our helper”
