Dr. Albert Tetteh Nyakotey, the Member of Parliament for Yilo Krobo, has visited two schools within the constituency; the newly opened Apersua Community Day Secondary School and Klo Agogo Senior High School.
The MP, in the company of some Constituency and Branch Executives, visited Apersua Community Day Secondary School to welcome the staff and students of the school.
Apersua Senior High is one of John Mahama’s E-block schools which was completed but remained unused for over three (3) years and it took the intervention of Dr. Albert Nyakotey to get the attention of the government to finally agree to the opening of the School.
At a point, it took the MP to bring in the Minority Committee Members on Education to have a Press Conference in conjunction with the Chiefs of Apersua, expressing their displeasure with the non-commissioning of the school after several Parliamentary questions have been filed by the MP in the same regard.
At Apersua, the Headmaster of the school, Mr. Vincent Oduro was happy to receive the MP and his entourage and took the opportunity to brief the MP on some of the challenges the school is facing since its opening of the school.
With a student population of over two hundred, the school has a Staff size of ten teachers, one non-teaching staff, and one voluntary teacher.
The School is faced amongst other challenges, lack of electricity connection, absence of marker boards, unavailable canteen and no accommodation for the Headmaster.
Dr. Albert Nyakotey promised to provide a befitting accommodation for the Headmaster and tasked elders of Apersua Community to begin a search for an interim accommodation in that regard.
The MP and his team then proceeded to Klo Agogo Senior High School, where a new Headmaster has taken over.
He used the opportunity to welcome Mr. Teyebiteye Aguale, a native from the Klo Agogo enclave newly posted to the school as the Headmaster.
He also presented a list of problems facing the school including; lack of a proper place of convenience for Staff, lack of dining tables and chairs, a need to complete the walling of the school, as well as the urgent need to rehabilitate some old structures in the school.
The MP promised to help deal with the immediate challenges of the school and pledged his availability to help the new leadership of the school to succeed.
