Residents of Nanapa in the Atiwa East District of the Eastern Region complaining about the activities of illegal miners in the area.
According to the chief and the residents in the community, activities of illegal miners are destroying their cocoa farms, water bodies and forest.
Explaining their ordeal to broadcast journalist, Armah Francis, the aggrieved residents complained of several instances where illegal miners threaten community members with thugs and guns.
Residents are, however, calling on the security agencies and other stakeholders to come on board in helping to deal with the issue before it escalates.
“We are calling on the police to intervene as a matter of urgency or we would take u the matter ourselves” some residents threatened.
