National Democratic Congress parliamentary aspirant hopefuls in 29 out of the 33 Constituencies in the Eastern region were successfully vetted during the two days exercise.
The vetting Committee was Chaired by Dr. William Hadzi with other members including Madam Vida Addai, Lawyer Sam Akwetey- Kwei, Regional Chairman Dr. Mark Oliver Kevor and Regional Secretary Baba Jamal Konneh.
Addressing the media after the two days vetting exercise which commenced on the 4th April and ended on the 5th April, the Eastern Regional Communication Officer of the NDC Mr. Kwadwo Dankwa revealed that the party approved 30 Constituencies to the vetting Committee to be vetted and 29 out of the 30 Constituencies went through the vetting process successfully.
He however noted that the vetting committee received petition against eligibility of some candidates in Lower West Akim constituency hence the decision to put the Constituency on hold and has been postponed to 29th April, 2022.
Already the Eastern Regional party leadership had put on hold 3 Constituencies -Ayensuano constituency, Afram plains South and Akwatia Constituencies .
He said a total of 71 parliamentary aspirants were vetted in 29 constituencies .They are made up of 5 females and 66 males.
38 of the aspirants were vetted on the first day while 33 were also vetted on the final day.
None of the aspirants were however disqualified by the vetting committee but 2 of them withdrew from the vetting process on personal grounds 1 other aspirant from Afram plains was cleared on a condition upon fulfilment.
