The Eastern Regional Youth Wing of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has supported the annual athletics sports competition by New Juaben Secondary School.
Led by Regional Youth Committee Chairman Alex Osei Bonsu, the NDC Youth Wing donated bags of sachets and packs of bottled water, cartons of soft drinks, and an undisclosed sum of money to bolster the school’s event.
Alex Osei Bonsu emphasized the party’s dedication to backing sports activities, citing the receipt of a proposal from the school as the impetus for their donation.
He highlighted the party’s ongoing concern for societal needs, especially youth engagement, despite being in opposition.
The donation, according to Alex Bonsu, aims to not only aid the school but also to reignite interest in sports among Ghanaian youth, particularly those in senior high schools.
The Headmistress of New Juaben Senior School, Georgina Oti Frimpong expressed gratitude for the support, stating that it would significantly benefit the school’s athletic endeavors.
She seized the opportunity to appeal to various entities, including the government, corporations, philanthropists, alumni, and individuals, for further assistance in acquiring sports kits and equipment, addressing existing shortages.
