The New Juaben North Education Directorate, under the auspices of Mr. Solomon Kumah (philanthropist), has launched the 2025 edition of the science and maths quiz for junior high students in the New Juaben North Municipality of the Eastern Region.
The quiz initiative, which started in 2022, was to identify the knowledge gaps, develop confidence to tackle academic challenges, and enhance learning among pupils in the municipality.

The educational program intends to help enhance the knowledge, skills, and capabilities of young learners in their academic journey in the New Juaben North. Thirty (30) schools are participating at the preliminary stage of the science and maths quiz.
Madam Hilda Amegatcher Brakohiapa, the municipal education director for the New Juaben North Municipality, disclosed that the science and maths quiz is to help unearth the strength and potential of the young learners.
Madam Hilda Amegatcher said the quiz event serves as a great opportunity for students to develop critical thinking skills and improve academic excellence in the area.

She called on chiefs, donors, parents, clergy, and other relevant stakeholders to support the science and maths quiz to help discover the potential of the pupils in the municipality.
“We want our municipality to be on top, as far as education of our young learners is concerned. The majority of our learners are enthused; they want to learn, but we need support; the government cannot do it alone,” Madam Hilda Amegatcher told Nhyiraba Solomon of Bryt FM during the launch.
Emphasizing the importance of the quiz, Madam Hilda Amegatcher articulated that it has served as an educative platform to impact knowledge and the practical aspect of education to the learners.

She pleaded for educational logistics to assist the Education Directorate in carrying out their mandate effectively and fostering learning in New Juaben North and its environments.
She commended Mr. Solomon Kumah for coming up with a science and maths quiz program as an effective tool for enhancing students’ confidence and ability.
EL Samed Abdul, who represented Mr. Solomon Kumah at the launching, stated that they are committed to supporting the municipality to elevate the educational performance to a higher level.
Mr. Samed promised that Mr. Solomon Kumah will continue to make education more attractive to the young generations by uplifting their knowledge on science and maths with the necessities in New Juaben North.
Touching on the success of the initiative, some participants shared their experience gained in the previous competitions, citing that the quiz has been an eye-opener for them in their academic field of study.

Mr. Solomon Kumah, a native of New Juaben North but currently living in the United States of America, initiated the program in collaboration with the New Juaben North Education Directorate.
