The New Juaben North Municipal Assembly has handed over palm oil processing plant to the people of Asikasu on Monday May 15, 2023.
The palnt which had been out of order for the past four years was presented to farmers by an NGO but got broken down with on money to repair.
The Municipal Assembly led by the MCE, Madam Comfort Asante however intervened to ensure the plant is repaired to serve the intended purpose.
Speaking at a brief gathering, the MCE ssured the people of the Assembly’s continous support to the econmic well being of the people at al times.
“The Assembly took up the challenge to repair the plant to enable farmers to have easy access in processing their palm oil without going through many stress. The Assembly through the PERD program disbursed over 15,000 palm seedlings to farmers which has started baering fruits. So we thought it wise to repair the plant for them in order to have easy access in processing them” the MCE indicated.
She, however, called on the newly inaugurated management team to take good care of the plant to ensure its life span is extended for their own benefit.
The District Agric Officer, Mr. Emmanuel Amana on his part emphasised that the plant will go a long way to improve oil palm production in the community and aslo bosst their economic activities.
He pledged his outfit commitment in ensuring farmers are well resourced to produce more for both local and the international market.
Meanwhile, the Assembly Member for the area, Hon Benjamin Narh was grateful to the Assembly for the intervention and also assured the pant would be taken good care of to ensure it serves the people as expected.
Residents on the other hand commended the Assembly for the repairs as it was a major haedache in transporting palm nuts to other communities to processs.
The repair works undertaken by the GRATIS Foundation cost Ghc13,000.00
