Assembly members in the New Juaben north municipality have taken delivery of motorbikes from the Central Government to aid in their activities.
In a short presentation ceremony held at Effiduase on Wednesday, the MCE for the area, Madam Comfort Asante emphasised on Government’s commitment to the strenghtening of the Local Governance system, hence the decision to support Assembly members in that regard.
Despite acknowledging delay in the presentation, the MCE indicated the delay was due to her outfit’s decision to register the motorbikes for Assembly members to deal with the previous challenges they incurred by themselves.
She urged beneficiaries to use the motorbikes for the intended purpose in order to work hard and improve the livelihood of people in their various electoral areas.
The Presiding Member, Hon. Dr. Edward Asante Antwi commended Assembly members for their support since the creation of the municipality and called on them to continue their selfless service to the people and Ghana at large.
He was, however, optimistic that the motorbikes would help address transportation challenges Assembly members face in line with their duties as law makers at the local governanace system.
Meanwhile, some benefiaciary Assembly members who spoke to the media expressed gratitude to the Government, Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development and the MCE for their continious commitment in supporting their plight.
They assured authorities to use the motorbikes to benefit the people in their electoral areas as well as the Assembly.
The Municipal Co-ordinating Director, Alhaji Ibrahim Amadu Tijani and other staff of the Assembly were also present to grace the short ceremony.
