The Omanhene of New Juaben Traditional Area, Daasebre Kwaku Boateng lll has commends Ghana’s parliament democracy for the past three decades.
The speaker of Parliament, Rt Honourable Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Wednesday 22nd February 2023 launched the 30th anniversary celebrations of the country’s parliamentary democracy under the theme “Thirty years of Fourth Republic, Journey thus far”
The second deputy speaker described the three decades of uninterrupted Parliamentary practices as a remarkable achievement worthy of celebration.
Delivering the message at Yiadom Hwedie Palace in Koforidua, deputy speaker noted that even though the country has chalked up some success in its democratic journey, there is a need to further strengthen institutions to ensure a sustainable democracy.
He said the celebration is opportunity to take stock of progress made thus far under the fourth democratic dispensation.
He stressed that this is a period for Ghanaians to examine and evaluate the journey, challenges and the opportunities, problems to map out the way forward.
Hon. Andrews Asiamah has called on the traditional leases to offer ideas and wise counsel to consolidate the gains made in the past three decades. “We need your ideas and wise counsel to guide parliament to do what will work better to satisfy every Ghanaian” he said.
According to him the visit to Yiadom Hwedie Palace is aimed at enhancing public awareness on the 30th anniversary and to strengthen the Parliamentary democracy of the country. He added that democracy must be transformed into an all inclusive and more participatory one for the benefit of all citizenry.
The Member of Parliament for Fomena, has acknowledged the contributions of Nananom, according to him have been pivotal in strengthen the pillars of democracy through their contributions and sacrifices.
Okoawia Dwomo Baabu ll, Nifa Hene of New Juaben Traditional Area has added that regardless of some blemishes associated the Ghana’s constitutional rule, it is better than military rule, therefore must be sustained to breakthrough democracy and good governance.
Daasebre Kwaku Boateng lll, Omanhene of New Juaben Traditional Area has commended Parliamentary thirty years of uninterrupted democracy is a milestone, and parliament of Ghana will, in the 2023, New Juaben is part of the event.
“We knew parliament were going to live up to expectation in democracy and you have proven beyound” he noted.
