As part of effort to address the high youth unemployment rate in the country, the government of Ghana announced an ambitious entrepreneurial programme in the 2022 budget known as “YouStart” with the objectives of building an entrepreneurial nation and creates at least One (1) million jobs for the teaming youth in the next three years.
It is as a result of this that the Ghana Enterprise Agency (GEA) office within the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly organized (14) fourteen days intensive entrepreneurial course for over seventy (70) selected unemployed youth under the ‘YouStart’ policy, a sequel to the NABC.
The project which is first in the country and funded by the World Bank sought to provide technical skills training and business development to support individuals and businesses to enable them become employable and also scale up their businesses.
At the Municipal launching, the Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Isaac Appaw-Gyasi commended the NPP government for such a laudable initiative, saying it will empower the youth, build their capacity and put the Ghana’s economy into the global market.
He charged the beneficiaries to avail themselves for the training so that they can also train others and become role models in their societies.
Mr. Appaw-Gyasi reiterated that government alone cannot do it that is why the government led by His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo is more committed to bridge the gap between employed and unemployed by introducing this initiative which is expected to inure benefit to all generations.
For her part, the Municipal Director for Ghana Enterprise Agency, Madam Jane Asieduwaa Gyekye, applauded the government for the strategy to augment the unemployment situation in the country. She was quick to add that this policy will go a long way to put smiles on the faces of the ordinary Ghanaian who then becomes the breadwinners.
