The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) nominee for Kwahu West Municipality, Tamimu Halidu, has been confirmed by Assembly members after securing 70.37% of the total votes cast.
At the confirmation exercise held Tuesday, Tamimu Halidu polled 26 YES votes, against 10 NO votes, with one rejected ballot.
The confirmation makes him second MMDCE nominees in the Eastern Region to successfully sail through the vetting and voting process.
In his remarks, Tamimu Halidu expressed appreciation to the Assembly members and stakeholders for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work diligently to accelerate the development agenda of Nkawkaw and its surrounding communities.
The exercise was supervised by officials from the Electoral Commission and witnessed by the Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, traditional leaders, and party executives.
The Minister said the nominee before has been carefully selected based on merit, competence, loyalty and an unflinching commitment to serve this municipality.
“You will all agree with me that our country is at a critical stage in its development journey. The government of President Mahama has outlined a bold resetting agenda with a focused strategy to stabilize the economy, drive infrastructural expansion, deepen decentralization and improve livelihoods at the grassroots”.
She said the success of this vision begins right here with strong competent leadership at the local level.
“We, therefore, cannot afford delays. We cannot afford divisions. What we need is unity of purpose and the political will to move our communities forward
This is why I am appealing passionately to you, Hon. Members to make this confirmation a one-touch victory to signal a powerful statement of support for development, progress and the collective interest of the people you serve. We do not want any second round”.
