Some executives of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the New Juaben north and south constituencies have been accused of using their authority to undermine the activities of others.
Their activities, according to Reform Liberty Cooperative Transport Union, are making the NPP unpopular and that, the various authorities must intervene to prevent any unforeseen event in the future.
President of the transport union, Kwabena Asante, at a press conference, is accusing some executives of the party of trying to take over their activities with King Jesus Cooperative Transport Union, despite the illegal approach they are using.
He accused the former chairman who is currently the New Juaben North Secretary of the NPP, Edward Boateng of being behind the activities of King Jesus transport after losing to him(Kwabena Asante) in an election.
“We have the powers to operate here from the Assembly since 2002, aside with GPRTU and it has been so since then. Edward Boateng, who has been the Secretary over the past 20years is now creating all these problems, claiming his party is in power”.
“I want to say it emphatically that, I and most of my colleagues are card bearing NPP supporters so Edward Boateng should not pretend to be the only person affiliated to the NPP” He stressed.
Mr. Kwabena Asante, however, commended the Regional Minister, Eric Kwakye Darfour and the New Juaben South Municipal Chief Executive Isaac Apaw Gyasi for swift intervention to help resolve the issue and therefore challenged them to ensure the matter is dealt with once and for all.
“I trust that the Regional Minister and the MCE will resolve the matter so we can have the peace we need for our work” he added.
The police on Monday dawn foiled a planned attack on operators of Reform Liberty Cooperative Transport Union, alleged to be led by the New Juaben South NPP 1st Vice Chairman, Benjamin Asante (BENASH) who claims to be the Chairman of King Jesus Cooperative Union.
Meanwhile, the Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) has suspended the activities of King Jesus until the issue is well resolved to prevent any unforeseen incidents.
