Nurses at Aburi -Ketase CHPs compound are living in constant fear as a mentally deranged young man wielding cutlass in the community continuously threaten to kill them.
The violent mentally-ill man alleged to be relative of the chief of the town has been marauding with cutlass has become a threat to safety of the community particularly nurses , children and women.
Three weeks ago, Nurses at the Ketase CHPs compound deserted the facility for a week after the mentally ill man nearly butchered a nurse on duty .
Recently, he similarly invaded the facility brandishing cutlass to kill the nurses forcing them to run helter skelter for safety causing a near stampede.
“for the past three weeks getting to one month now our lives have been at stake .There is this mad man who invade our facility with Cutlass threatening to attack us.Three weeks ago he attacked the facility with Cutlass a and nurses run away. They decided to close the facility for a week until the community take action to arrest the mentally ill young man and send him to mental hospital.
He has become threat to the community”. A nurse told Bryt FM.
According to the nurses , they have informed the Assembly member and elders of the community but nothing has been done about it leaving the mentally ill man to continue to his treacherous conducts in the community exposing hundreds to danger.
They are threatening to close the CHIPs compound untill their safety guaranteed.
Attempt to get the Assembly member for the area Emmanuel De-Graft Johnson through constant phone calls have not been successful.
