162 students of Oti Boateng Senior High School in the New Juaben South municipality of the Eastern region donated blood to support the Regional Hospital blood bank in Koforidua.
This was part of a blood donation exercise organised as part of Homecoming celebration by the Oti Boateng Old Students Association (OBOSA) on Saturday at the school’s premises.
Prior to the exercise, students were taken through health talk last Tuesday to psyche their minds ahead of the exercise.
They were also educated on how to keep themselves healthy as students to always be in good health to be able to take their academic work seriously.
President of OBOSA, Samuel Appah-Peniel speaking to Bryt FM news on Friday emphasised the exercise was to support the blood bank with pints of blood for emergency cases as availability of blood remains a major challenge.
He took the opportunity to advise the public to have passion of donating blood so as to help save lives.
Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer of OBOSA Gyamfiwaa Afua Aboagye was grateful to the students for their support as it will go a long way to save a lot of lives.
She told Kwabena Nyarko Abronoma in Bryt FM news that donors were given provisions and exercise books as appreciation for their love and commitment.
