Less than two weeks after residents of Akyem Oda experienced a devastating fire outbreak that razed down the entire Oda Central market and destroyed properties worth millions of cedis, another fire outbreak has been recorded over the weekend which led to the death of one person.
The fire outbreak which occurred in a house at Akyem Gyadam near Akyem Oda Saturday night led to the death of a ten (10) year old girl identified as Abena Hannah.
The victim together with her two siblings and mother were deeply asleep in the room when it caught fire.
The mother Ama Animah managed to rescue two of the children when she suddenly woke up to the blaze.
She shouted for help but was too late for the daughter to be rescued by residents who first came to the scene
The fire was eventually doused by residents and personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service who arrived belatedly.
The charred body of the victim was retrieved and deposited at Oda government hospital.
The mother sustained minor injuries and was treated and discharged to the same hospital.
Preliminary investigation suggests the fire outbreak was caused by an electrical fault.
