The longstanding chieftaincy feud in Mamfe-Akuapem in Eastern Region has been successfully resolved, bringing a wave of peace to the community.
The conflict involved Chief of Mamfe-Akuapem Osabarima Ansah Sasraku III, who doubles as Kyidomhene of Akuapem, and Nana Obeng Kumi II, Amankrado of Mamfe.
The pivotal moment of reconciliation occurred when Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III, Okuapehene, intervened by sending a delegation led by Aburihene Otoobour Djan Kwasi II from Adonten Division.
The delegation also included representatives from the Benkum Division, with the Chief of Abotakyi standing for Osabarima Asiedu Okoo Ababio, and Nifa Division represented by Osabarima Opese Kunadu.
A critical turning point was the agreement by both parties to engage in necessary rituals as a symbol of reconciliation.
The Benkum Sumankwaahene played a central role in performing these rituals at the forecourt of the ToprÉ› shrine on December 11th, 2023.
The involvement of the Okuapehene’s delegation and the successful completion of traditional rituals mark a significant step towards lasting harmony in Mamfe.
The community looks forward to a future of unity and cooperation as the wounds of the chieftaincy feud begin to heal.
