Over 300 residents of Awaham in the West Akyem Municipality of the Eastern Region have been enrolled into the National Health Insurance Scheme for free with Financial Support from a Small Scale Miner, Mr. Alex Addo Kumi.
The beneficiaries includes Infants, Adults and the Aged, while others whose Cards have expired for long but could not renew due to financial challenge also benefited from the philanthropist.
Speaking to the benefiaries during the Registration, Mr. Alex Addo Kumi said some people in the area are refusing to visit Health centers Frequently due to the absent of the Insurance Card because it has been difficult for some of them to get ¢25 to register for the Health Insurance Scheme.
He called on the benefiaries to always visit the health center with their cards for free medical care and charged them to make their health a priority to avoid premature death and disability due to illness.
Mr. Alex Addo Kumi pledged to continue to support the people in the community and thanked Okatakyie Barima Pobi Asomani, chief of Awaham for giving him the opportunity to enroll his people onto the Health Insurance Scheme.
Okatakyie Barima Pobi Asomani,also expressed his appreciation to the miner and called on others to come to their aid to improve their Community Health Center by providing logistics to attract the people to visit there Regularly.
He also called on Government and the West Akyem Municipal Assembly to support to improve their Poor Communication Network and Provide Portable water for them.
