Residents of Panpanso No.1 in Nsawam Adoagyiri municipality in the Eastern region embarked on a spontaneous demonstration Monday morning over the invasion of the community by land guards who pulled down 11 houses.
According to the Police, on April 18, 2022, at about 5:00am, they received information received to the effect that there was an illegal demolishing of houses at Panpanso No. 1 near Teacher Mante that the affected persons became agitated and embarked on a demonstration blocking the main Accra – Kumasi Highway.
Police at Teacher Mante led by the District Commander ASP Mr. Francis K. Nartey rushed to the scene and met a group of rampaging town folks numbering over 200 blocking the Accra to Kumasi highway with logs and burning of lorry tyres.
The police managed and convinced them to clear the road which they obliged.
The police team visited the demolishing scene and found about eleven (11) houses damaged by an unknown group of people with a payloader machine for no apparent reason leaving the dwellers homeless.
The payloader machine had left the scene before the arrival of the police.
Nonetheless, one Famous Dogbe an Okoda rider aged 23 years was arrested for allegedly being involved. It was alleged that one Kofi Acquah is the brain behind such a dastardly act.
All efforts are being made to get the said Kofi Acquah arrested for questioning.
In the meantime, the Kibi Divisional Commander, Chief Superintendent Mr. Magnus Sam, and the Nsawam Municipal Chief Executive Hon Mr. Isaac Kojo Boabeng have visited the community to assess the grounds and damage caused.
Currently, dozens of residents have been rendered homeless.
