The Koforidua Area Head of The Church of Pentecost Apostle Mike Etrue has urged couples and would be couples to ground their marriages in Christ to be able to withstand the storms in marriages.
The 2021 Population and Housing Census (PHC) statistics put the total number of persons married in Ghana at eight million three hundred and sixty six thousand four hundred and sixty six (8,366,466 ) out of which six million seven hundred and forty eight thousand, six and twenty two (6,748,622) of them have not registered their marriages, with only one- million six hundred and seventeen thousand, eight hundred and forty four (1,617,844) registered.
However the statistics revealed that five hundred and fifty three thousand, and sixty five (553,065) persons in Ghana have had their marriages dissolved while four hundred and five thousand and Ninety (405,090 ) have separated.
Three hundred and sixty- two thousand two hundred and thirty three (362,233 out of the five hundred and fifty three thousand and sixty five (553,065) divorced persons are females with the remaining one hundred and ninety thousand eight hundred and thirty two (190,832) are males, representing a share of 65.5% and 34.5%, respectively.
According to the Koforidua Area Head of The Church of Pentecost Apostle Mike Etrue the situation is worrying particularly when some of the break ups occured among Christians.
He urged christian parents to also counsel and guide their sons and daughters on marriage.
Apostle Mike Etrue said marriage which is a Holy Matrimony instituted by God has come under savage attacks to the extent that it now being threatened by influx of homosexuality.
However he believes when the youth are grounded in Christ they will not be influenced into it.
On his part ,the Resident Minister of PIWC-KOFORIDUA Pastor Musa Yahaya stated that christians must obey the Principles of marriage as outlined by the word of God for the union to be firm to the Glory of God.
These were said during solemn holy Matrimony service for Philip Terkpetey Tetteh a banker and Elizabeth Opoku -Asare, a staff of Lands Commission who are both members of PIWC-KOFORIDUA Media Team .
