Pupils and Teachers of Mfranor Presbyterian Basic School in the Ayensuano District of the Eastern Region have been displaced by a devastating rainstorm that ripped off the entire school building Tuesday evening.
The rainstorm which hit the Community at about 7:00pm on March 23, 2021, ripped off roofs of class one to class six displacing about 300 pupils and Teachers.
The KG block was crushed by a fallen tree causing damage to the building.
The incident has disrupted academic activities. Pupils may be compelled to learn under trees till emergency support is extended to the school.
Meanwhile, officials of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) have visited the school for assessment.
The Eastern Region has recorded many devastating rainstorms this month which have destroyed hundreds of houses and school buildings displacing hundreds of people.
For instance, about 200 residents of Akyem Aboabo a suburb of Akyem Oda in the Birim Central Municipality of were recently displaced by a devastating rainstorm.
Dozens of houses were ripped off while many household properties were destroyed.
Some of the items destroyed were a mattress, Students books, Clothes, Food Items, Cooking Utensils, Blanket, Traveling Bags, Fridge, TV Set, Blanket, Decoder, Standing Fan, Ceiling Fan, Carpets, Chairs, Woofer, Phones, Phones Accessories, and Shoes
A Radio Station Mast was also toppled over by the violent rainstorm.
The displaced residents are perching with their friends and families awaiting the assistance of the government.
