The Queen Mother of Oyoko, Nana Akoma Serwaa Bonsu II, who also serves as the Adonten Hemaa of the New Juaben Traditional Area, hosted a special Christmas festivity party for the elderly at the Oyoko Palace.
The event, which celebrated the aged in the community, was inspired by Nana Akoma Serwaa Bonsu II’s late mother.
Addressing the gathering, she expressed that if her mother were alive, she would have been in the same age group as the attendees.
To honor her memory, Nana Akoma decided to organize the event as a tribute to the elderly mothers of the community.
During the celebration, Nana Akoma Serwaa Bonsu II, together with her daughter, Colonel Justina Frempong, Director of Transport for the Ghana Armed Forces, presented over 100 half-pieces of cloth to women aged 80 and above. The gesture brought joy and gratitude to the elderly attendees.
The Queen Mother also recognized Madam Margaret Ankrah, popularly known as “Ebony,” her former vocational school proprietor in Koforidua, Eastern Region. She commended Madam Ankrah for her strict and disciplined teaching, which she credited with shaping her own life.
Nana Akoma Serwaa Bonsu II, affectionately known in her private life as “Teacher B,” was joined by several dignitaries, including Nana Sempei Osei Bonsu II, Oyokohene and Adontenhene of the New Juaben Traditional Area; retired Police Commander C.O.P. Daniel Oduro Kwateng; Mrs. Daasebre Kwaku Boateng III; and other elders of Oyoko.
The elderly women who attended the party expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Queen Mother for her thoughtful initiative, describing it as a memorable occasion filled with love and appreciation.
