Some Basic Schools in New Juaben South Municipality in Eastern region have been ripped off by the violent rainstorm the struck the Eastern Regional capital, Koforidua and parts of the region.
The ferocious rainstorm started about 9:45pm Wednesday May 10,2023.
It lasted for about 40 minutes amid power outage.
Many homes and buildings have been ripped off in parts of the region .
Schools such as Zion Basic School, Apimpoa Basic School ,and Roman Catholic complex Eva Maria Basic School all in New Juaben South municipality have been ripped off interrupting academic activities.
Text books and other teaching and learning materials were drenched.
School children and teachers of the affected schools became stranded Thursday morning when they reported to school.
Some of the classes have been merged as authorities await support to reroof the classrooms.
Meanwhile officials from the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) have visited the schools for assessments.
Information gathered from emergency room of the Eastern Regional Directorate of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) reveals many reports of havoc caused by the rainstorm in parts of the region.
NADMO officials are assessing the situation from across the region.
At Asuboi in Ayensuano District for instance,12 houses were ripped off displacing 46 occupants made up of 21 males and 25 females.
