The Eastern Region has recorded 30 new Confirmed cases of coronavirus within three days increasing the case count to 87.
The Ghana Health Service (GHS) announced 13 new coronavirus cases as of April 30, 2020, which increased the regional tally to 70. However, in the latest update on Saturday, May 2, 2020, GHS announced 17 new cases in the region.
Details of the new cases have not been provided but already, Fanteakwa North, Denkyembour, Akuapem North, Lower Manya Krobo, Nsawam, and Asuogyaman Districts have all recorded cases of COVID-19.
It is not clear if the newly recorded cases are from these districts where samples of contact traced persons were taken for testing.
The latest update by GHS indicates a surge in the COVID-19 cases in Ghana to 2169 from 2074 announced three days ago.
One more person has died from the deadly Covid-19 virus bringing the death toll to 18.
The Ghana Health Service disclosed on its website on Saturday that 229 persons have since recovered from the 2169 cases.
Greater Accra Region leads with 1, 852 cases, Ashanti Region – 117, Eastern Region – 87, Central Region – 21, Oti Region – 19, Upper East Region – 19, Volta Region – 16, Northern Region – 13, Upper West Region – 10, Western Region – 9 and Western North Region – 4.
