The general secretary for the Liberal party of Ghana (LPG) Mrs. Margaret Obrine Sarfo has defended her party stance to legalize marijuana when voted to rule the country in 2020.
She told the host of Dadi FM’s morning show “Efa Wo Ho”, Abena Pokua Ahwenee that they will not only legalize marijuana otherwise known as ‘wee’ as the ruling party, but they will also ensure that it becomes the cash cow of the country to develop major areas lagging.
Mrs. Margaret Obrine Sarfo is of the view that the legalization of marijuana will be an avenue to create more jobs to absorb the teeming unemployed youth of the country and also boost the private sector.
According to her, marijuana legalization will be for industrial and commercial purposes and it will help to ease unemployment and increase economic development in the country.
The outspoken secretary defended that developed countries that have made marijuana legal are enjoying its massive economic benefits.
She explains that some products in Ghana such as coca-cola, pain killers and many more are made of Marijuana “Wee” seed so when it is legalizing, it will generate the country $6b a year.
But speaking to some residents in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional capital, this what they have to say.
“Legalizing marijuana is a satanic policy and it shouldn’t be accepted in the country”, resident.
“Oh Ghana! Where are we heading to? We should stop coping with others. How can we legalize marijuana as it has been a killer to our health”, Vera Daaki added?
“I think legalizing marijuana will help to increase employment rate in the country, is a good policy”, Otibu Prince stated.
