Seventh-day Adventist Hospital, an excellent health care provider in Koforidua has hosted an emergency response awareness (ERA’2022) program to educate and sanitize Ghanaians to develop interest in acquiring necessary emergency response skills to reduce morbidity and mortality rate in the country.
The health facility in collaboration with the Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana National Ambulance Service and other relevant stakeholders educate the public on how to manage emergency health cases in the region.
Dr. Daniel Faakye, SDA Hospital Director said, the emergency response awareness program will equip the general public on how to handle unexpected situations.
Dr Faakye indicated that the emergency response awareness will help churches, schools and other intuitions to manage sudden incidents before reporting the case to the hospital.
He therefore, lauded stakeholders for partnering Koforidua SDA Hospital in providing training to the public on emergency cases.
The Eastern Regional Deputy Public Health Director of the Ghana Health Service, Dr John Ekow Otoo on his part urged the general public to be well-prepared for unexpected emergency issues and take emergency preparedness seriously.
Dr Ekow Otoo added that unexpected and dangerous incidents can take place everywhere, hence there is a need for Ghanaians to understand emergency preparedness.
He expressed his profound gratitude to the SDA Welfare Association for organising emergency response awareness campaign in the region.
DO2 Pascal Tsogbe, the Eastern Regional Safety Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service on her part also commended the emergency response institutions in the region for participating in the program as conducting safety measures to ease threats and dangers in the country.
He cautioned Ghanaians to be mindful on how to use fire as the country is approaching harmattan season to help reduce and combat fire outbreaks in the country.
Mr. Gaani Michael Dimongso, Eastern Regional manager of the National Ambulance Service also called on Ghanaians to demonstrate emergency response skills before calling the service for intervention.
He added that the Ambulance service is playing important role by assisting the public in emergency situations.
