The Electoral Commission said that in accordance with the District Level Elections Regulations, 2015 (C.I. 89), it will conduct elections to break ties in the election results recorded during the just ended District Level Elections(DLE).
Following the collation of results from the just ended District Level Elections, Six Electoral Areas for Assembly Members and 16 Electoral Areas for Unit Committee Members in the Eastern Region produced the same results for the contestants.
As a result, there will be the need to conduct Run-off elections in these areas to break the ties to determine the winners in these Electoral Areas.
The said elections will be held onTuesday 9th January, 2024 at all the Polling Stations in the Electoral Areas where the ties were recorded.
Areas to elect Assembly Members in the Eastern Region are: Akwamufie in Asuogyaman District, Awosoase in Atiwa East, Fahiakor in Akwapim South, Koka/Minta Bomeng in Kwaebibirim, Akwateakwaso in Akwapim North and Ofoase/Nkatease in Fanteakwa South District.
For the Unit Committee, Election will be conducted in Asikuma in Asuogyaman District, Maame Krobo East, Trebu, and Foso in the Afram Plains South, while in Yilo Krobo District, Election will be held at Tsremati Dornguanor.
Other areas are: Adiemra, Chemfre Fanu/Togbe Kale in Afram Plains North, Katayensua in Upper West Akim, Kwahu Praso No.1 in Kwahu South, Abaase in Kwaebibirim, Akotekrom in Birim South, Kwamoso in Akwapim North.
The rest are: Community A Asesewa in Upper Manya Krobo, Guggisberg in Birim Central, La-Mangoase in Ayensuano and Abaase/Anamase in Achiase District.
