The grand opening of the ultramodern Legacy Lodge and Pub took place on January 24, 2026, at Akyem Kukurantumi in the Abuakwa North Municipality of the Eastern Region on the theme “Royal Beginnings: Embracing Tradition, Embracing Legacy”.
Explaining the vision behind the facility, the proprietor, Mr. Harrison Ntori, popularly known as Dadie, revealed that the building was initially intended for residential purposes. However, upon the advice of friends, he converted the project into a commercial venture to generate income for the maintenance of the property. This decision led to the establishment of a two-storey, eleven-room lodge equipped with ancillary facilities.
Mr. Ntori expressed gratitude to all who supported the realization of the project and disclosed that additional developments are in the pipeline. He appealed for continued support from the community.Delivering a goodwill message, Hon. Gifty Twum-Ampofo, affectionately known as Hajia Kande, former Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North and former Deputy Minister of Education in charge of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), commended Mr. Ntori for choosing to invest in his hometown. She noted that such initiatives help boost local economic growth and complement government efforts to create employment opportunities, as many people often prefer to invest outside their communities.
She encouraged residents to invest in their localities, stressing that local investments stimulate economic growth, create jobs, and promote community development.

Hon. Twum-Ampofo further called on stakeholders to support efforts aimed at guiding young people to take advantage of employment opportunities within their communities. She expressed concern about negative work attitudes exhibited by some youth, including dishonesty, lack of commitment, and abandoning duties without notice, describing the trend as a threat to economic progress. She urged parents, community leaders, and employers to work together to instill discipline, responsibility, and productivity among the youth.
Hon. Adukpo Kudjo, the Adonten Sanaahene and Eastern Regional NADMO Director, who represented the Chief of Kukurantumi, Daasebre Boamah Darko, addressed what he described as a common misconception within communities where individuals are labeled stingy if they do not distribute money freely. He cited Hon. Gifty Twum-Ampofo as a victim of such perceptions and emphasized that funds should rather be channeled into economically beneficial ventures, as demonstrated by Mr. Ntori.
He cautioned against division among community members and called for unity to ensure economic growth and stability. He also commended Mr. Ntori for prioritizing community development over personal gain and urged residents to support the initiative.
Entrepreneur Mr. Agyei William, popularly known as Paa Wills, also expressed his admiration for the facility, describing it as a landmark for the Kukurantumi township. He advised the proprietor to ensure proper record-keeping to guarantee the smooth running of the lodge.
The colorful event was attended by several dignitaries, including Mr. Kwasi Asare, Medical Director of CRIG; Mrs. Irene Baah Asare, Senior Human Resource Officer at CRIG; Mr. Seth Twum, OPASS PTA Chairman; Mr. Stephen Osei-Wusu, former NADMO Director for Abuakwa North and Aide to Hon Gifty Twum-Ampofo; Lawyer Stephen Kumordi; Cardinal Eric Ofori-Atta; Mrs Ernestina Serwah Boateng; the public and members of the media.
