All Nations University (A.N.U) in Koforidua in Eastern Region of Ghana is gearing up to host the ‘Develop and Elevate STEM Ghana Conference 2023’ on today December 13.
The conference, expected to draw over 1,000 students and 60 teachers from various academic levels, aims to inspire collaborative innovation for transformational growth and address pressing needs in Ghana.
Mr. Ernest Teye Martey, Chairperson of the Local Organizing Committee and Developer of Ghana’s first space satellite, emphasized the importance of industrial participation in bridging the gap between academia and industry.
He stated that the university’s is making efforts to establish laboratories that implement students’ projects, addressing the issue of innovative projects being left unused after completion.
Martey stated, “All Nations University is providing the facility where students’ projects can be integrated into society, ensuring a smooth transition from academia to the society. By investing in STEM and establishing laboratories, the university aims to position Ghana at the center of the STEM revolution in Africa.”
He further emphasized ongoing projects with societal impacts in agriculture, medicine, mining, and academia.
The university’s commitment to deploying these solutions into society reflects its dedication to contributing to Ghana’s development.
Leslie-Ann George, Co-Founder of Develop and Elevate STEM Ghana 2023, underscored the increasing significance of STEM in Ghana’s job market.
She noted that 80% of the country’s job market will soon lean towards STEM, emphasizing the urgency to focus on STEM education to encourage collaborative innovation and facilitate transformative growth.
The conference serves as a platform to catalyze these efforts and inspire the next generation of STEM leaders.
The STEM conference by All Nations University is in partnership with the UK-based EL Empire Professional Services.
In 2021, the impactful conference was held in Accra with 700+ attendees and this year, the opportunity is being given to a 1000+ students from different high schools in the Eastern Region.
