The lack of toilet facility and potable drinking water in the Aworoeso D/A basic school in Ayensuano District of the Eastern Region has compelled students and Teachers to engage in open defecation by defecating in the bush.
Few teachers however walk distance to attend nature’s call on the deplorable open-pit latrine for the community.
Worst of all, there is no safe drinking water for drinking and even practice personal hygiene.
Aworoeso D/A basic School also have no electricity and Computer lab.
It is also faced with inadequate teachers. Currently, there is no teacher for KG 1 & 2 and class 2 pupils.
Mr. Mottey Lawrence, Assembly Member for Aworoeso Electoral Area said the lack of toilet facilities and inadequate staff is worries to the community.
He said several letters written to the appropriate offices have not yielded positive results.
The assembly Member called on the government, philanthropists, and other stakeholders to help address the menace by providing them with modern toilet facilities and potable drinking water to improve sanitation in the area.
