THE $BILLION MPAKADAN PROJECT:
- Railway $400 Million
- Mpakadan Port $200 Million
- Debre Port in the North $200 Million
- Industrian Free Zone and others $200 Million
An Agenda for job creation for the Youth of Asuogyaman, North Tongu, Lower Manya, Yilo Krobo and South Dayi Districts.
In year 2000, I was transferred to the Port of Takoradi with the mission to revive the port that many believed had become a dead port as seen in the newspaper headlines below.
In 5 years, I used the transit trade to Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso to turn the otherwise dead port into a vibrant congested port. We created 130,000 jobs and a revenue of Cedis 141.133 billion.
After accomplishing my mission in Takoradi in 2005, I was transferred to the Sahelian Region as the GPHA’s Resident Representative to Niger, Mali & Burkina Faso. My mission was to go and mobilize the transit business from these countries to pass through Tema and Takoradi Ports. That same year, I organized a Business Forum with Importers and Exporters from these countries in Bamako, Mali. At that forum, they requested for a railway to carry their import and export cargoes through Ghana. This gave birth to the Mpakadan Transit Corridor.
Implementation process started under President Kuffour in 2007 but construction started with my facilitation as Director General of Ghana Ports & Harbours Authority in 2017 under President Akufo-Addo.
I have proposed the addition of Free Zone Industrialization to this Project to enable us create over 70,000 jobs in the next 20 years.
Support me to go to Parliament and push for this dream to become a reality.
