Three persons have been admitted to the Atua Government Hospital in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality after a near-fatal road accident that involved two vehicles at Trom a suburb of Somanya, the Yilo Krobo Municipal Capital.
The accident which occurred on the evening of Monday, May 23, 2022, at about 7:30pm involved a Kia truck with the registration number AS- 1965 R.
The victims, a female and two males on board the Kia truck sustained severe injuries while a male pedestrian involved is also in a critical condition.
The victims were all traders aboard the Kia truck returning from Winneba in the Central Region after trading mango.
Upon reaching a section of the road at Trom, a Tipper truck that was about to join a lane of the highway from Somanya towards Dodowa crossed them, hence, to prevent a head-on collision, the Kia truck veered off the road and knocked down a pedestrian walking by the roadside.
One of the victims Teye Philip added that the vehicle, therefore, veered off his lane and crushed a tree beside the roadside, and somersaulted.
The tipper truck which allegedly caused the accident is currently on the run after the incident occurred.
