Three persons maintaining a fuel reservoir at Cocobod office in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional capital have been allegedly suffocated to death in the reservoir.
The heart-wrenching incident unfolded on October 9th, 2023, at approximately 11:30am.
The victims have been identified as technical experts contracted by the Management of PBC Workshop in Koforidua.
They were five workers performing maintenance work on a fuel reservoir tank at the facility.
One of the workers went inside the reservoir but was suffocating,attempt to rescue him by the two led to their deaths inside the reservoir as well.
The deceased persons in this harrowing incident have been identified as Mr. Ashie – believed to be in his early 60s.
Octopus – believed to be in his early 40s.
and Jonathan also in his late 20s.
The incident unfolded swiftly, and two witnesses who were colleagues of the victims and present at the scene reported the tragic events that transpired.
Upon receiving an urgent call for assistance, a response team comprising officials from the Nadmo Municipal Secretariat, Effiduase Police Command, Ghana Ambulance Service, and Ghana National Fire Service swiftly arrived at the scene.
Their immediate goal was to extricate the bodies of the victims from an underground tank. Subsequently, the bodies were respectfully conveyed to St. Joseph’s Mortuary in Effiduase, within the New Juaben North Municipality for preservation and autopsy.
To unravel the circumstances and causes surrounding this heart-rending incident, the Ghana Police Service have officially initiated an investigation.
