A 31-year-old man has been crushed to death by a Tata Truck at Akyem Kukurantumi in the Abuakwa North District of the Eastern Region.
The suspect driver -George Dankwa, 63, years old was in charge of the Tata Truck with registration number GE 4923-10 driving from Addonkwanta direction towards Akim Kukurantumi.
On reaching a section of the road at Kukurantumi Church of Pentecost area, he veered off from his lane to the opposite lane and in the process, knocked down the 31-year-old pedestrian- Samuel Adu who sustained life-threatening injuries hence rushed to The Community Hospital at Akim Kukurantumi for treatment but he was referred to St. Joseph’s hospital Koforidua for further treatment where he gave up the ghost same day.
The body of the deceased had since been deposited at St. Joseph’s Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
When contacted, the acting Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command Sargeant Francis Gomado, said the accident vehicle has been impounded at the Police station for testing and examination.
