Two thieves have been jailed a total of eight years by Odumase Krobo Circuit Court in the Eastern region for stealing.
The convicts – Issah Mohammed, 30, and Moses Tetteh, 28, from Agormanya and Abanse in Odumase respectfully were sentenced four years imprisonment each with hard labour.
The Prosecutor Chief Inspector Akrofi told the court that the suspects were arrested red handed by some vigilant residents at Akwamu Akrade Apaaso a Community in Asuogyaman Distirct.
He said, 55 inch flat screen Sony television which cost 5,000,D DSTV decoder, cloths, bags and other stolen items were retrieved from the convicts.
“They went to Apaaso to break into the room of a retired female teacher to steal his coloured flat screen TV set so someone who was suspicious questioned them which they lied that a woman asked them to send it for repairs but the answer was not convincing so the guy told a driver they had stop not to pick the suspects . He then raised alarm and were arrested by the youth and sent to the police station.
Our investigation revealed that indeed they stole the TV set from a 71 year old retired female teacher together with above listed items. The Prosecutor explained.
They were found guilty by the court and sentenced to four year jail term each in hard labour.
Burglary and thefts have been rampant in many communities in Asuogyaman District.
Chief inspector Akrofi who is the Adomi Senchi police station officer urged residents to be security conscious and swiftly report suspicious characters to police.
