Two persons have drowned in an abandoned quarry pit at Anoff a suburb of Nsawam Adoagyiri municipality in Eastern Region.
The incident occured on 13th June, 2023 at about 1:00pm .
The two victims- Kwame Okyere, 27 years old and his brother Kwarfo, 24 years old drowned when they attempted to wash themselves in the large pit filled with water while returning home from hunting.
Their younger brother who saw them drowning rushed to the house to inform the family and community members.
Police and NADMO officials as well as local divers rushed to the scene but the victims were retrieved dead.
The bodies have been deposited at Nsawam Government hospital.
NADMO officials have invited manager of the Mendor Quarry Company that owns the site for a meeting to ensure that such incident not repeated.
