Two policemen have been shot by highways armed robbers at Pramkese in the Kwaebibirim Municipality of the Eastern Region leading to the death of one of the victims
The body of the deceased Police Officer – Sargeant Moses Tetteh Nartey has been deposited at the morgue while Detective Corporal Christian Tortimeh is receiving treatment.
The two officers were part of an armed Police Patrol team dispatched to Pramkese to Akyem Techiman road in Kwaebibirem District to protect the lives of passengers during a highway robbery attack.
The armed robbers had blocked the road around 8:40 pm robbing commuters.
The Police Patrol team upon arrival was however shot at by the armed robbers leading to gunshot wounds of the two officers.
According to the commuters, some unidentified gunmen blocked the Pramkese-Takyiman road and were robbing them.
Sergeant Moses Tetteh Nartey sustained two gunshot wounds on his chest and one on his head while Christian Totimeh also sustained a gunshot wound on his left rib.
The team responded with a couple of gunshots but retreated and rushed the injured officers to the hospital for treatment.
Unfortunately, Sargeant Moses Nartey Tetteh was pronounced dead on arrival while Corporal Christian Totimeh’s condition stabilized at St. Dominic Hospital in Akwatia where he is currently on admission.
The acting Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command, Sargeant Francis Gomado has confirmed the incident but says the investigation is ongoing to arrest the suspects who are on the run.
