Aa four-year-old girl has been raped, according to her mother, Madam Felicia Adjaho. She explained that the child does not live with her but with the grandmother at Nyamekrom because of her work. Madam Adjaho leaves home around 3 a.m. for the market, and due to her demanding schedule, she felt the child would be better cared for by the grandmother. She currently resides at Asamankese, in a town called Abrewankrom.
Yesterday evening, between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m., Madam Adjaho called home to check on the family. Her sister answered the call and questioned why she was still away “despite everything that is happening.” Concerned, she asked what had happened, and her sister informed her that her four-year-old daughter had been raped by a 40-year-old man.
Alarmed, she rushed to the house and found the child in pain and bleeding.
When she asked the girl what had happened, the child said the man lured her to a cassava farm and then forced himself on her. After the act, he told her to go home, and she returned crying.
According to Madam Adjaho, the suspect is a member of their extended family, and they all live in the same family house. The family immediately reported the incident to the police. Officers provided a medical form and directed them to the Central Hospital, where a doctor confirmed that the child had indeed been sexually assaulted and had suffered serious injuries.
The suspect is known in the community as “Brother,” though his given name is Kwame. The mother also claimed that this is not the first time he has attempted such an act. She said he once tried it with her firstborn, but the older child managed to escape.
Despite that earlier incident, he had not been arrested.
Meanwhile, close source reveal the police has taken over the matter as the suspect is been monitored for his arrest, as he has gone into hiding after the act.
